Forming an intracorporeal slip-knot in laparoscopic suturing.

چکیده
L aparoscopic suturing presents an important skills barrier to developing a laparoscopic surgical practice. The formation of a slip-knot greatly assists in approximating tissue that may initially be under tension or when the suture material is difficult to tie owing to memory (the property of resisting deformation). I describe here a technique that allows the surgeon to fashion an intracorporeal laparoscopic slip-knot in a controlled and consistent manner using either monofilament or braided suture material.

Towards a Better Laparoscopic Knot: Using Knot Quality Scores to Evaluate Three Laparoscopic Knot-Tying Techniques
OBJECTIVE In the past, knot-tying techniques have been evaluated and compared, but there has been a scarcity of objective scoring systems in these comparison studies. Using an objective scoring system, we aimed to compare 3 types of knots: intracorporeal flat-square knots, intracorporeal slip-square knots, and extracorporeal square-knots for their Knot Quality Scores (KQS) and their rates of sl...
متن کاملIntracorporeal Knot-Tying and Suturing Techniques in Laparoscopic Surgery: Technical Details
BACKGROUND Intracorporeal suturing and knot-tying in laparoscopic surgery require great manual dexterity; these techniques must absolutely be mastered by every surgeon who is interested in pursuing the minimally invasive approach. METHOD The initial and final knot of a laparoscopic continuous suture can be accomplished in several ways and with easy technical solutions that are fully illustrat...
متن کاملIntracorporeal Suturing and Knot Tying Broadens the Clinical Applicability of Laparoscopy
OBJECTIVE As surgeons become more experienced with basic laparoscopic procedures like cholecystectomy, they are able to expand this approach to less common operations. However, without laparoscopic suturing skills, like those obtained with Nissen fundoplication, many operations cannot be completed laparoscopically. We present a series of 10 patients with less common surgical illnesses who were ...
متن کاملA simple technique for knot tying in single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS)
Minimal access surgery has been generally accepted as a method of operating through a very small incision or no incision at all. Today, all abdominal and thoracic surgeries can be performed with laparoscopy. Intracorporeal knot tying is an advanced skill that involves a difficult process with a long learning curve. In particular, when the angle between the working instruments is narrow and the ...

UNLABELLED The efficiency of suturing training and testing (SUTT) model by laparoscopy was evaluated, measuring the suturingskill acquisition of trainee gynecologists at the beginning and at the end of a teaching course. During a workshop organized by the European Academy of Gynecological Surgery (EAGS), 25 participants with three different experience levels in laparoscopy (minor, intermediate ...
